On October 7, though on leave awaiting surgery, Ron rushed to defend his country and his people.

First to go. Last to return. A true hero.

A Chevra Kadisha — literally “Sacred Society” — is

A Chevra Kadisha — literally “Sacred Society” — is almost always an all-volunteer group of specially trained Jews who care for the deceased and prepare them for burial.

Caring for the deceased is both a communal obligation in Jewish law and is considered the highest form of chesed (kindness), because it is done with no expectation of anything in return.

In most communities, members of the Chevra Kadisha serve entirely as volunteers, without financial compensation.

In Jewish tradition, we show deep respect for the body after death.
One important practice is that nothing is passed directly over the deceased.

Why?
Because from the moment of death until burial, the soul is understood to be present, aware, and sensitive to how its body is treated.

Even simple actions are done gently, with dignity, to honor that awareness.
This is one of the many ways Judaism teaches kavod acharon — the final honor we give to every person who has lived.

Tahara is the core service provided by the Chevra

Tahara is the core service provided by the Chevra Kadisha (Jewish burial society).
It’s the process in which a person is prepared—physically and spiritually—for burial.

And it’s important to know: you do not need to be an observant Jew to receive a tahara.

Tahara is available to any and every Jew.
